Many families and friends of those who have fallen in the service of our country are moved to take action in memory of their loved one. It can help with the grieving process to do something positive and many extraordinary people have raised money for the wounded in memory of the fallen Heroes.

The Hockey for Heroes squad comprises a number of Military and Ex-Military personnel who all rally for this same cause.

Help for Heroes raise money to help our injured and fallen Heroes, and run a series of recovery centres across the country. Read more about the centres and their activities here – http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/how-we-help/recovery-centres/

Help for Heroes has been involved with Sports Recovery since 2008, and in the past year alone have put on 350 events across 50 different sports enabling over 2,100 wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans to take part in adaptive sports.

The work that Help for Heroes is doing in Sports Recovery is only made possible through donations from the amazing people who support Help for Heroes. Without you, the varied and essential sports recovery programme wouldn’t exist so thank you.

Using Hockey as their sport to help, the Hockey for Heroes team work to raise funds for Help for Heroes, with their efforts dating back to 2012 and encompassing a mixture of exceptional physical exertion combined with playing hockey.

The fundraising goes from strength to strength, and the squad is always keen to work as hard as possible to raise much needed funds for our servicemen, so please buy the shirt, buy the stick, or simply donate directly by clicking the donate button.

In their latest challenge, in 2015, during only 10 days, between Thursday 21st May & Saturday 30th May 2015, the Hockey for Heroes Invitational Squad comprising 26 players from 20 different hockey clubs undertook:

  • 33 Games of Hockey
  • 3 Peaks Challenge (Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis & Snowdon)

The matches involved playing both Military & Civilian Teams with the standard of Hockey on show being very high and the tour engaged with many members of the hockey community and shared all that is good about the “hockey family”.
